Squeezers

Listening to Squeezers is the aural equivalent of thinking happy thoughts. While it does not make you fly like that boy from Neverland, their music, at the very least, brings a smile to your face. The Taguig City-based quartet’s current lineup consists of Byron Ricamara on vocals and guitar, Judith Abad on bass, Jeremy John Ricamara on drums and Clifford Jongko on guitar. The band’s music can be best described as “fun rock.” The positivity is present even in its most poignant moments—the band’s carrier single “Nagbabalik” being a case in point—and is most felt in the album and show-opener “Field Trip,” a song about, well, grade school field trips. The theme is carried though Highway Eskinita, the band’s debut album, from the beginning until the epic 10-minute title track. Listening to the album just might be the most fun-filled hour in your life.

Squeezers is currently working on promoting the album including mall shows, bar gigs, and had made appearances in various media including radio and television. When not doing promotions the band is writing and developing material for a follow-up release. Some of the new songs are being performed during their shows, so make sure to catch them when you can. The band’s current album, Highway Eskinita, includes ten songs and features the singles “Nagbabalik” and “Paminsan-Minsan Lang Naman,” released under Gusi Records and distributed by D’Concorde Recording Corp, available nationwide at all Odyssey and SM Record Bars branches nationwide.

Boca is a story of Charlemagne Alejandro, who has an oral fixation. After losing his mother when he was 3 months old, he compensates the lack of motherly love with chain smoking. All grown up, Charlemagne now works in a retail office, sending catalogues to their standard demographic of lonely people. He doesn’t think much of the job and spends most of his free time in his favorite spot in front of a convenience store smoking. Out of all the monotony of the life he leads, things happen around him and ultimately finds something better to do with his lips than smoking. As Charlemagne finds what his looking for, so does his boss in the office; Benny, his smoking buddy; and Marie, Charlemagne’s stalker.

Rob and Pats formed an experimental post-punk band back in 2006. Both learned and enjoyed a common set of interests, but their plans got sidetracked in 2008. A year later, they decided to pursue their project with the resolve of finding band members with the same interests.

A couple of weeks later, Rob met up with Gep after an exchange of ideas in a local musician's forum. Right after Rob, Pats and Gep immediately went in the studio. The result was magical. Their chemistry was solid. The music in their heads came alive, things were much clearer and they all knew they wanted to "paint" the same painting.

From there, they decided to audition for bassists and placed advertisements in various forums. Months after posting online ads and trying out potential members, they drafted in Mike. As soon as they got in the studio together, everything just felt bound together.

Their music is driven by melody, beats, rhythm, harmony, imagination, dreams, love, fear and freedom. After months of crafting and refining the melodies in their heads and hearts - LIP SERVICE is here to share its intense, raw, driving music to the world.
